CASHIER (PART TIME)

You will assist customers, help them recognize the need for our products and services, and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner. Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Proactively engage and connect with customers by asking questions and listening to their needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service, build positive and inclusive relationships, and take accountability for your actions and outcomes.
- Organization
- Maintain the appearance of the check-out area.
- Move and restock bags, packaging materials, and labels.
- Sales
- Interact with customers to ensure they find everything they need and make suggestions based on their individual needs, including latest trends and current promotions.
- Operate a Point-of-Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards.
- Handle cash, including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
- Maintain change funds and accounts for sales receipts.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Inventory
- Manage merchandise by completing all inventory processes, ensuring items are properly checked in and accurately ticketed.
- May participate in periodic inventories.
- Dependability
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and complete work assignments accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Product Knowledge
- Knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems.
- Retail or relevant work experience preferred but not required.
- Communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
- Proper telephone etiquette.
- Mathematical Skills
- Basic math functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages.
- Ability to make change in American monetary units.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to the needs of the business.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Physical Demands
- Constantly moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
- May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.
- Work typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Skills
- Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a desire to provide outstanding service.
Schedule
Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a part-time role (20 - 34.5 hours).
