Cashier Clerk/Production

Responsibilities

• Perform basic math functions to collect payments and make change
• Supervise family store volunteers in absence of store manager
• Maintain accurate sales and customer records according to policy
• Participate in operation of the cash register, maintenance and sales recording
• Uphold pricing and store policy set by store manager
• Participate in staff training as needed
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations for thrift store operation
• Absorb and price products
• Open and/or close store as scheduled
• Memorize product locations throughout the store and be able to direct customers or make suggestions
• Collect payments and bag purchases for customers
• Maintain accurate cash drawer
• Tally the funds in the cash register when required during a shift and produce transaction reports
• Keep the checkout area clean and orderly
• Adequately represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in every circumstance, treating customers and clients alike with dignity and respect
• Perform all duties in compliance with Salvation Army policies and regulations
• Perform other duties as needed and/or directed by the Officer in charge

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Related experience preferred but not necessary
• Good phone etiquette
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Punctual
• Able to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
• Able to multi-task
• Professional appearance
• Able to work collectively with the administrative team associates
