Responsibilities

• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Skills

• Understanding of POS systems.
• Handling various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures).
• Reporting pricing discrepancies.
• Adhering to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages.
• Understanding and adhering to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Staying current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Complying with food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Performing preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Managing conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Providing support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
