About the role
Fry’s Food Stores is merging with The Kroger Company and seeks a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role requires maintaining a safe and clean environment, demonstrating core values, and adhering to company policies.
Responsibilities
- Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.
- Understand and handle various tenders like Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Adhere to policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notifying store management.
- Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
- Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
Desired Previous Job Experience
- Customer service experience.
- Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
