Case Supervisor, Grade A (Promo) - Cortland County DSS
About the role
This position involves responsibility for planning and supervising the work of the services staff in the Department of Social Services which includes coordinating and supervising the work of several units or sections of the agency. The Case Supervisor Grade A recommends casework and group work policies and procedures for the agency and is responsible for social service standards in accordance with agency policy. The work is performed under the general direction of a higher level administrator with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. Direct supervision is exercised over the work of Case Supervisor Grade B and other subordinate staff. Does related work as required.

Promotional minimum qualifications
- Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class position of Case Supervisor Grade B and have served continuously on a permanent basis for twelve (12) months immediately preceding the filing of an application for the position of Case Supervisor Grade A; OR
- Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class position of Senior Caseworker in Cortland County and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for eighteen (18) months immediately preceding the filing of an application for the position of Case Supervisor Grade A; OR
- Candidates must be permanently employed in the position of Caseworker in Cortland County and must have served continuously on a permanent basis for twenty-four (24) months immediately preceding the filing of an application for the position of Case Supervisor Grade A; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
Special requirement
Possession of a valid New York State driver's license or privilege to drive a motor vehicle in New York State appropriate to the vehicles operated. Failure to maintain a NYS driver's license including driving privileges throughout employment will result in disciplinary action or dismissal. Pre-employment screenings required.
