About the role
The Jewish Board’s Youth and Family Residential Division supports domestic violence survivors and their family members. Staff provide trauma-focused services to help residents heal from past abuses, find meaning and fulfillment, and develop a safe environment for themselves and their children.
Responsibilities
- Carries a caseload of residents and provides services within the scope of program regulations and agency mission.
- Completes client assessments, including intake assessments, overall client assessments, and risk assessments.
- Evaluates and assesses clients' functioning and supports them in meeting individual goals.
- Advocates on behalf of residents with other services providers and links them to community-based treatment.
- Interprets and explains program/agency policies and procedures to residents.
- Develops and implements safety plans, provides individual and family counseling, and makes referrals for medical, mental health, and substance abuse services.
- Coordinates services with other providers and runs groups under supervision.
- Attends weekly case conferences, participates in audit preparation, and may run special and holiday events.
- Documents all resident interactions, including progress notes, service plans, periodic assessments, and psychosocial evaluations.
- Facilitates monthly roommate meetings when appropriate.
- Participates in intake, assessment, discharge, and follow-up conferences.
- Attends regular staff meetings and trainings.
- Makes occasional travel to offsite meetings and trainings.
- Engages in physical activities with residents and performs data entry as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) or related field
- A minimum of one year experience working with domestic violence survivors
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience working with similar populations
- Bilingual-Spanish preference
- Willingness to work with families affected by domestic violence, many with experiences of mental illness and substance use
- Compassion and respect for vulnerable individuals
- Patience and understanding for the slow process of stabilization and recovery
- Familiarity with working in a Windows environment
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software
