About the role
The Downtown San Diego Partnership is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the economic prosperity and cultural vitality of Downtown San Diego. The Case Manager plays a crucial role in helping homeless individuals and families find and secure stable housing.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine housing needs, preferences, and eligibility for housing programs
- Identify and access available housing resources, including shelters, transitional housing, and permanent housing options, and assist clients in finding suitable and affordable housing
- Guide clients through the application and placement process for housing programs, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted accurately and in a timely manner
- Develop and implement individualized housing plans for clients, addressing barriers such as income, mental health, substance use, and legal issues
- Advocate on behalf of clients to access supportive services, benefits, and community resources necessary for housing stability
- Provide clients with information and education about their housing rights, responsibilities, and budgeting skills to promote long-term housing stability
- Prepare and submit regular reports on client progress, program outcomes, and housing trends to support program evaluation and funding requirements
- Collaborate with other service providers, community agencies, and landlords to expand housing options and support services for homeless individuals
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, and documentation of housing placements and outcomes
- Perform other tasks as assigned by department
Requirements
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience working with homeless populations or in housing advocacy required
- Knowledge of local housing resources, housing laws, and social services
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to working with homeless individuals and families
- Familiarity with data management and case management software is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to read and write in English (bilingual or multilingual preferred)

Schedule
Available schedules include:
- Saturday-Sunday off, 7 am - 3:30 pm
- Friday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
- Wednesday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
- Tuesday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
