About the role

The Downtown San Diego Partnership is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the economic prosperity and cultural vitality of Downtown San Diego. The Case Manager plays a crucial role in helping homeless individuals and families find and secure stable housing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine housing needs, preferences, and eligibility for housing programs
  • Identify and access available housing resources, including shelters, transitional housing, and permanent housing options, and assist clients in finding suitable and affordable housing
  • Guide clients through the application and placement process for housing programs, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Develop and implement individualized housing plans for clients, addressing barriers such as income, mental health, substance use, and legal issues
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to access supportive services, benefits, and community resources necessary for housing stability
  • Provide clients with information and education about their housing rights, responsibilities, and budgeting skills to promote long-term housing stability
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on client progress, program outcomes, and housing trends to support program evaluation and funding requirements
  • Collaborate with other service providers, community agencies, and landlords to expand housing options and support services for homeless individuals
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, progress notes, and documentation of housing placements and outcomes
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by department

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field preferred
  • Previous experience working with homeless populations or in housing advocacy required
  • Knowledge of local housing resources, housing laws, and social services
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and nonjudgmental approach to working with homeless individuals and families
  • Familiarity with data management and case management software is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and write in English (bilingual or multilingual preferred)

Pay

$27.12/hour

Schedule

Available schedules include:

  • Saturday-Sunday off, 7 am - 3:30 pm
  • Friday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
  • Wednesday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday, Sunday off - 7 am - 3:30 pm
