About the Role

Under general supervision, the Case Manager prepares child support cases for Family Court, performs courtroom activities under the supervision of DSS attorneys, follows up on cases (including parent locate and interstate case processing), and provides general child support services to clients as required.

Responsibilities

  • Communications & Correspondence (30%)
    • Communicates with other units within the Office of Integrated Child Support Services and other components of the Department of Social Services.
    • Enters support order data into the IVD system and updates financial information to ensure proper distribution of collections.
  • Maintains & Evaluates (25%)
    • Maintains case records and narrative recordings (written and electronic) in the agency-designated system for documentation and auditing purposes, following agency policy.
    • Manages assigned caseload, identifies problems within the child support system, and recommends solutions (e.g., service of process, case scheduling).
  • Services & Support (25%)
    • Refers non-custodial parents to the SNAP Employment and Training program.
    • Interprets child support services programs to clients, the public, and the community as needed.
    • Provides services in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Prepares Cases & Interviews (20%)
    • Conducts interviews with custodial parents for paternity cases, interstate support cases, and other cases as necessary.
    • Ensures proper handling of Personal Identifying Information (PII), including access, sharing, and disposal, while safeguarding agency systems and data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required program experience.

Job Details

This is a time-limited (TLP) staff position located in North Charleston, SC. The role requires fundamental knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to child support services and the ability to apply them in varied situations.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
  • Budgetary Responsibilities: None.
  • Physical Requirements: Standard office environment.
  • Essential Personnel Level: Normal operations; required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives but not expected to work on-site during emergencies.

Pay

Expected salary range: $40,000 – $42,000. Compensation is dependent on factors including previous experience, knowledge, skills, and performance.
