As a case manager with DWFS, you will work with job and career seekers to ensure they have the skills and resources to find and maintain self-sustaining employment. You will help employers locate the talent they need to thrive. Success is measured by meeting goals and putting your customers to work.
This role serves as the central focus of services to job seekers and referred customers, providing eligibility determination, orientation, assessment, and career counseling. You will recommend appropriate training or non-training programs, assist with job development and placement, and manage a personal caseload of participants.
Responsibilities
- Effectively and accurately communicate an overview of the WIOA program and services.
- Follow established case management and allied program procedures for orientations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of services, labor market information, and multi-program services within the scope of duties.
- Facilitate workshops and classroom activities, demonstrating effective presentation and group management skills.
- Apply knowledge of program regulations, policies, and procedures for eligibility determination and compliance with labor laws.
- Prepare, in manual or automated format, all required forms, records, and program applications accurately and submit them in a timely manner.
- Interpret and communicate assessment results to participants.
- Prepare appropriate program service plans and service strategies for customers.
- Collaborate with Business Services Representatives on the work experience process.
- Develop and document enrollment forms, case notes, and participant contacts according to policy.
- Accomplish data entry and related activities correctly and within acceptable time limits.
- Maintain accurate participant files and records.
- Manage and monitor the distribution of support services following established policies.
- Provide ongoing counseling to participants toward their expressed goals.
- Prepare accurate and reliable budget projections for each participant.
- Take appropriate actions with participants within program requirements (e.g., follow-up, sanctions, terminations).
- Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and make referrals as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal staff to assist participants in developing effective resumes and cover letters.
- Refer participants to educational facilities, training programs, and financial assistance resources.
- Create and develop marketing and outreach materials to promote the program within the community.
- Plan and implement activities to reach individual program goals.
- Coordinate activities with mandated program partners, community-based organizations, and internal staff.
- Contribute to overall program success based on applicable program reports.
- Utilize Extreme Customer Service behaviors in all interactions with internal and external customers.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, business, education, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent transferable skills.
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from participants, regulatory agencies, community agencies, and the business community.
- Ability to present ideas verbally and conduct detailed briefings or training classes for staff, management, public groups, and customers.
- Strong written communication skills using correct English for preparing memos, letters, and reports.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Carry/lift up to 5 pounds frequently, up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
- Subject to carrying, lifting, twisting, and reaching to perform essential job functions.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other locations.
