About the role
The Career Navigator provides integrated workforce planning services to career center customers, helping them develop, evaluate, and implement plans to find employment or build employment skills. This role involves maintaining contact with customers and service providers, conducting assessments, and delivering career advisement. The Career Navigator ensures equitable access to services, addresses unique customer barriers, and fosters an inclusive environment for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Interview customers to assess ongoing service needs, gather occupational information, and explore employment or training opportunities.
- Coach customers on effective self-presentation and job search strategies to secure optimal employment or placement.
- Provide career advisement, including developing individual employment/placement plans, job referrals, training or education program placements, and retention services.
- Conduct visits to customers’ homes, training providers’ sites, and employment locations.
- Develop, implement, and update service plans to meet customer needs.
- Coordinate activities with service providers and serve as a liaison between customers and providers.
- Manage a comprehensive caseload of job seekers, providing ongoing employment services and guidance to support job retention.
- Accurately document customer interactions in an automated system, ensuring case files meet programmatic requirements.
- Prepare reports as requested.
- Address unique customer needs and barriers, making referrals to workshops, assessments, and internal programs while ensuring equitable access.
- Utilize Extreme Customer Service behaviors in all interactions with internal and external customers.
- Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Internet use and Microsoft Office products.
- Mandatory keyboarding skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-service orientation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and adequate vehicle insurance coverage.
Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Physical Demands
- Frequently carry/lift up to 5 pounds, regularly up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds.

- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary for operating office equipment.
- Occasional twisting, reaching, and lifting to perform essential job functions.
Work is primarily office-based with occasional travel to other locations.
Pay
$15.56 to $16.00 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time, non-exempt position.
