About the role

The Lab Technician supports Liberty University’s program by assisting the instructor in both classroom and laboratory settings. This role is responsible for independently maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient learning environment by overseeing equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and managing lab operations—including inventory, projects, and student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the instructor during lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment by monitoring student use of tools and equipment, enforcing safety procedures, and ensuring compliance with university standards.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute materials for student projects.
  • Supervise and instruct trade-related work, including independent thinking in essential functions and decision-making ability.
  • Ensure the lab and classroom remain clean, orderly, and conducive to learning.
  • Guide students on proper tool usage and techniques.
  • Lift a minimum of 50lb.
  • Adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering Liberty University’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.
  • Create remediation plans as needed to assist students with improved technique when conducting performance tests.
  • Employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions.
  • View each student as a unique individual and provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of four years of field experience in the given trade or a certificate in the trade.
  • A degree and/or licenses or certificates related to the trade are preferred.

Skills

Cleanliness and organization: Ensure the lab and classroom remain clean, orderly, and conducive to learning. Student support: Guide students on proper tool usage and techniques. Lift a minimum of 50lb. Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ. Perform other tasks as required by the instructor or administrative staff.
