CASA Volunteer Supervisor

About the role

CAPS & Maple City is dedicated to supporting healthy, safe, and thriving children and families by providing quality, comprehensive services. This position supervises, recruits, and trains volunteer advocates while advocating for children involved with the court system using the CASA model. The employee will develop relationships with each child in their cases, communicate with the child’s family and service providers, and make fact-based recommendations to the juvenile magistrate regarding the child’s best interests. The role also involves supervising volunteers and assisting them with their assigned cases.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the CAPS & Maple City team, demonstrating core values.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision and collaborate in a team environment under pressure from deadlines and high-volume operations.
• Conduct monthly supervision with volunteers to ensure in-depth knowledge of case activities.
• Ensure documentation is completed thoroughly and on time.
• Attend and prepare volunteers for all assigned court hearings.
• Assist in running reports and ensuring program compliance.
• Support initial and ongoing volunteer training.
• Report unmet needs or concerns to DCS (FCM) and/or the CASA director.
• Immediately report any suspicion of abuse or neglect to the DCS hotline.
• Perform physical tasks such as walking, stooping, climbing small step ladders, and accessing files or office machinery.
• Attend supervisory, in-service, and other relevant meetings and training events.
• Participate in creative outreach to recruit volunteers.
• Comply with all employer and department policies, including attendance, safety, and conduct.
• Serve the public diplomatically and respectfully, including handling irate or hostile individuals.
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
• Perform other duties that support the agency’s mission as assigned.

Requirements

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and office skills (emailing, scanning, faxing, etc.).
• Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with the ability to prepare detailed written reports.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (but not required) in Social Work, Sociology, Human Services, or a related field.
• Previous case management and supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and a satisfactory motor vehicle report.
• Willingness and ability to travel using personal transportation for meetings outside the Joy Rose Center site.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and CPS check.
• Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
• Occasional extended, evening, or weekend hours, and out-of-town travel for child visits and training/conferences.

• Ability to sit at a desk frequently.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle objects and perform tasks.
• Frequent writing and reading due to the nature of the work.
• Ability to remain stationary 50% of the time.
• Frequent communication via phone, in-person, or computer.
• Frequent listening, problem-solving, and responding to others.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items.
• Sporadic lifting of up to 15 lbs.
• Primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise.
• May face inclement weather when traveling for court proceedings (unless prior accommodations are arranged).
• Frequent local travel and occasional out-of-county travel.
• May require work outside regular office hours.
