CASA Program Assistant - Part Time

Schedule

  • Approx. Monday & Thursday 8:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Flexibility and additional court days as needed

About the role

To assist the CASA Program Director in the daily administration of the CASA Program.

Responsibilities

  • Attend, monitor and document all non-CASA-assigned Dependency hearings
  • Display good time management to prepare for court in advance; complete hearing notes and organize court documents in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to listen and absorb information during hearings for extended periods of time
  • Process outcomes of the Dependency hearings with CASA staff
  • When possible, participate in at least one pre-service training class for each training round to meet and get to know prospective CASA volunteers for matching purposes
  • Provide input to CASA staff to best match CASA volunteers with Dependent children most in need of an advocate
  • Maintain regular contact with the CASA Office to keep staff updated with the status of the daily hearings
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other CASA-related events when possible
  • Within the parameters of the part-time hours, observe and record team meetings and Permanency Roundtable meetings as needed
  • Assist with the process of preparing a case file for the newly assigned CASA once they have been matched with a child/youth
  • Foster positive working relationships with personnel in the Courts, Children and Youth, attorneys, other agencies involved with child welfare, and especially with CASA staff

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree plus clerical and computer training plus 2-4 years of work experience in a comparable field; or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 2-4 years in an office environment with clerical and computer experience
  • Prior training or experience related to CASA, the child welfare system, the court system, or county government preferred
