Carpentry Roof Lead Worker

About the role

This position is responsible for providing lead oversight and direction for carpentry and roofing operations, coordinating work assignments and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards and specifications. Reporting to the Carpentry Supervisor, the position works collaboratively with all facilities staff, Director of Building Services, project managers, administrative staff, vendors, faculty, and staff to coordinate and support carpentry and roofing operations.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced-level carpentry and roofing work, including preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of various roofing systems, gutters, downspouts, flashing, drains, vents, exhaust fans, shingles, and operating lift equipment. (60%)
• Responds to customer requests by utilizing the AIM work order system to receive, prioritize, respond to, and track work orders. Provides lead oversight of subcontractors and quality control inspections for carpentry and roofing projects, maintains campus roof records in Roof Pro, assists with supply ordering and inventory, and coordinates work schedules with supervisors, end users, and building occupants. (25%)
• Provides lead oversight in the supervisor’s absence, assigns and tracks work orders, provides technical guidance to shop personnel, monitors work performance, assists with hiring and project inspections, and reviews construction documents to provide technical recommendations for construction and renovation projects. (15%)

Requirements

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. No license or certification required by statute or regulation.

Preferred: Valid NC Driver’s License.

Pay

Recruitment range: $36,467 – $64,295 per year. Anticipated hiring range: $48,600 – $54,000 per year.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
