Location: Tallahassee, FL | Full-time regular position
Responsibilities
- Builds, erects, installs, and repairs forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials to assist with various construction projects.
- Installs and/or repairs kitchen cabinets, vanities, shelving units, and performs other general carpentry duties.
- Repairs furniture such as tables and chairs.
- Repairs and/or installs new doors and hardware.
- Utilizes various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
- Assists other trades as needed, including locksmiths, plasterers, and painters.
- Operates vehicles to carry supplies and travel campus-wide to perform skilled maintenance; loads and unloads necessary equipment and materials.
- Reviews plans and work orders to ensure correct completion of the scope of work.
- Documents work performed and orders materials on appropriate departmental forms.
- Follows established safety rules and regulations; maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Moves materials around job site and cleans up work site debris.
- Maintains security, safety, and upkeep of all equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
- Maintains tools and equipment, ensuring all hand and power tools are in proper working condition; reports maintenance problems to supervisor.
- Organizes and cleans assigned shop areas; prepares requests for materials and supplies.
- Performs additional maintenance and supervises helpers as required, including minor plaster and sheetrock repairs, and replacement of floor tiles, ceramic tiles, and damaged carpet campus-wide.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years' experience, or a relevant technical or vocational degree (may substitute for experience).
- A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
Schedule
8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute break.
