Responsibilities
- Compliance with OSHA and company safety rules and regulations
- Capable of operating power tools and discerning the correct tools for the job
- Independently construct and/or build small carpentry projects as directed by the supervisor
- Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials
- Load transports, unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
- Direct and assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation
- Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site
- Proficient in reading blueprints, architectural details and construction layouts
- Performs and ensures accurate and quality work within a set time
- Capable of operating large equipment as needed, i.e. forklift, backhoe, excavator, etc
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Always have a “safety first and for all” thought process
- Proficient knowledge of carpentry and math skills
- Proficient in operating and discerning all tools and equipment required for the job
- Must be able to pass a background check, including driving record, and drug screen
- Must possess a valid driver license in the State of Oregon and have valid insurance
- Follow directions intently and comfortable asking questions for clarity
- Is reliable, respectful and accountable for all work
- Must have proficient knowledge of construction processes to perform duties of this position
- Must be physically fit and have the ability able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable carpentry and/or apprentice skills

Benefits
Each project will define and dictate the actual workweek, workdays, and working hours. Any work time in excess of 40 hours per week must be preapproved. Failure to obtain preapproval for work time in excess of 40 hours per week is a basis for disciplinary action. It is the expectation of SunWest Builders that each employee will satisfy the unique workday requirements for each project as necessary.
- The position will, at times, require heavy lifting (of at least 50 lbs.) and the use of heavy equipment.
- The position will require 8 hours a day of walking, standing, climbing, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and stretching; to include pulling, pushing, and lifting of construction materials and equipment.
- Work may be inside or outside, depending on the work schedule. You must be able to work in either environment and be prepared for inclement weather.
