Responsibilities

  • Construct, erect, install and repair wood, metal and concrete structures
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds and occasionally more
  • Coordinate the movements of eyes, hands and fingers
  • Use hands and arms fully to reach for, handle and manipulate objects
  • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders and scaffolding
  • Stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, crawl or work for long periods at heights required
  • Access multiple levels of height and depth
  • Access confined spaces
  • Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment and supplies
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above or below ground level
  • Aid in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
  • Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment as necessary
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas
  • Restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • Study blueprints, sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required
  • Perform other routine duties such as rigging, metal studs, drywall, lathing, acoustical ceilings, foundation, rough framing, layout, roof framing, concrete forms, level and transit, basic cutting, welding, cabinet making, finish trim, door hanging and hardware, millwright or any other duties as directed

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the local Union
  • Completion of apprenticeship program or equivalent experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions, plans and blueprints
  • Skills to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to work out of town and varying hours as required, including: over-time, evenings or weekends
  • Willingness to attend required continuing education classes and receive required training
  • Willingness to attend safety meetings, monthly breakfast meetings and quarterly employee meetings

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Occasional exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
  • Noisy work environment and job sites
  • Outsides weather conditions

Physical Demands
