About the role

Performs skilled journeyman-level carpentry work involving the construction, maintenance, repair, and renovation of building structures and fixtures.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and installs doors, windows, flooring, partitions, stairways, and other building components.
  • Constructs cabinets, furniture, shelves, tables, and specialized wood products.
  • Performs shop work, hands doors and windows, and installs linoleum and tile floors.
  • Maintains and repairs hand and bench tools; cleans and sharpens tools.
  • Estimates labor and material needs for assigned tasks.
  • Performs general carpentry work in alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures, and furniture.
  • Builds cabinets of various sizes and designs, tables, doors, shelves, bookcases, and specialized laboratory articles of wood.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of trade school required.
  • 5 years of journeyman-level carpentry experience required.
  • Valid Texas Driver License (DL) required.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
