Purpose
To help carpenters by performing duties requiring less skill.
Duties
- Using, supplying, or holding material or tools
- Cleaning work area and equipment
- Cleaning work areas, machines, or equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site
- Assisting Carpenter in layouts
- Installing fasteners/hardware
- Placing and nailing blocking and bracing
- Assisting in aligning and squaring walls
- Cutting miscellaneous material to size as directed by carpenter
- Stacking trusses, installing fascia and roof sheathing
- Other duties as necessary
Knowledge & Experience
- Framing or woodworking experience strongly preferred
- Must be able to travel to various job sites
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must provide original, valid, and unexpired document(s) that satisfy the Form I-9 employment
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, and carpenters
- Ability to use basic power tools and hand tools
- Ability to add and subtract in all units of standard US measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Must be able to read a tape measure
- Must be alert to surroundings; position requires high degree of situational awareness
- Ability to bend, stop and move repetitively while working with power tools
- Ability to work outside, in all-weather conditions, frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 100 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends
