About the role
The Carpenter Helper assists the carpenters on the construction site, assisting with tasks such as repairing, constructing, or dismantling wooden/metal/concrete objects on construction jobsites. This role must be able to identify a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment, and keep work areas clean when needed, preparing material and sites for the work activity.
Responsibilities
- Assists the carpenter with carpentry duties to include but not limited to building forms, chutes, rails, stairs, and other structures as required.
- Maintains a clean jobsite, picks up all tools and equipment and secures tools on job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Performs material handling and storage.
- Loads and unloads material from trucks, manually hauls and/or hoists materials.
- Establish the punch list process and close-out procedures with the Project Manager, Owner, and Architect.
- Ensures that work is performed in a safe manner.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Reports problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
Requirements
- Must be physically fit.
- Must have good eyesight.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work at heights and on roofs.
- Must possess the aptitude, interest, and ability to operate machinery.
- Will be required to wear PPE to include hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and work boots.
