Carpenter Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Frame metal stud walls
• Hang sheetrock, dry wall, install doors and hardware
• Install paneling, suspended ceilings, toilet partitions and other related office furnishings under supervision.
• Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete using a variety of hand and power tools under supervision.
• Identify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the job.
• Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, fork lifts, and company trucks.
• Willing to learn application of various coatings including paints and varnishes.
• Demonstrate ability to correctly install the following: Doors, Door Jambs, Windows, Trim, Suspended Ceilings, Paneling, Drywall, Stairs.
• Participate in safety meetings, safety programs and in the quality process.
• Clean the work area at the end of the day or at the completion of each job.

Qualifications

• Some experience as a helper in the Carpentry.
• Experience working inside industrial facilities is a plus.
• Ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
• Ability to use whole numbers, fractions and decimals to add, subtract, multiply and divide and be able to accurately follow instructions.
• Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
• Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
• Installation - Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
