Carpenter Apprentice

Essential Functions

• Feed Corrugated machine
• Fold Inserts
• Packaging product
• Cut wood to length on saw per work orders
• Assemble skids and crates per work orders
• Move raw materials and finished product with hand trucks or forklift (see forklift note below)
• Stage raw materials for assembly
• Packaging finished goods for shipment
• Stock completed items in the appropriate place
• Complete and turn in paperwork including- Actual quantity, Time sheets
• Cleanup work area (corrugated/wood/General Shop)

Other Responsibilities

• Forklift operation (once certified)
• Cleanliness of work area
• Aid other work areas as required to complete production requirements
• Safety- Safe operation of all equipment
• Safety of employees - Eye & hearing protection
• Repairing and adjusting equipment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Able to perform skilled work of moderate difficulty
• A high degree of initiative and creativity is required due to the complex nature of the situations/conditions of the position
• Must have the ability to work independently with little supervision
• Ability to effectively solve problems, think clearly and positively in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations
• Mets deadlines and fulfills commitments
• Exhibits enthusiasm and an ability to work cooperatively with others
• Ability to communicate well with co-workers and customers
• Exhibits care and strong attention to detail
