About the Role
Construct, erect, install, and repair structures using carpenter’s hand and power tools. This position requires advanced knowledge of finish carpentry and a willingness to put forth extra effort.
Responsibilities
- Select materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets (wood or plastic), and paneling.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structures.
- Layout floor plans and cabinet work using a rule, framing square, and calipers.
- Determine the sequence of activities for fabrication, assembly, and erection of structures.
- Install structures, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, build stairs, cabinets, countertops, and lay hardwood floors and tile work.
- Hang and finish drywall and accessories.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand and follow company chain of command and reporting methods.
- Retain and apply learned skills to progress to the next skill level.
- Regularly attend company safety training sessions.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in finish carpentry or a related area preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of common practices, tools, terminology, and safety precautions of the carpentry trade.
- Thorough knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials.
- Skill in the use of carpentry tools and woodworking equipment.
- Ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans, or specifications.
- Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to perform job duties with little to no supervision.
- General understanding of construction practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to take direction and carry out job duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable under company insurance provider/program.

Work Environment
- Physically demanding work; may work at great heights or outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required.
- Primarily local travel during the business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Physical Demands
- Lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue.
- Perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- Ability to quickly move arms and legs; excellent stamina.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Schedule
Full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Start and end times are dependent on the time of year.
