Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance programs for water related permits and authorizations.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and other compliance documents.
  • Develop, maintain, and update environmental management plans, as necessary.
  • Support hydrologic investigations, planning, projects, and reporting.
  • Cook up permitting activities associated with the water management needs of the site, including the review and preparation of permit applications.
  • Cook with projects and manage contractors.
  • Cook with company subject-matter experts on complex compliance issues.
  • Gather samples and field data from designated monitoring locations, as well as oversee and organize environmental data to contribute to the creation of regulatory reports.
  • Participate in and conduct environmental inspections to ensure permit compliance.
  • Provide training and support to NGM employees and contractors.
  • Align with legal obligations and NGM health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example and promote the NGM safety program and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, hydrology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, mine engineering, chemical engineering, or other related field required.
  • At least one (1) to three (3) years direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others required.
  • Ability to identify and implement opportunities for improvement required.
  • Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word and Excel required.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions required.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 40 lbs. required.
  • Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines required.
  • Familiarity with compliance systems and ISO 14001 preferred.
  • General understanding of mining operations - preferred.
