Whether it's sitting and talking with someone, playing music, giving a caregiver a much-needed break, making friendly calls or helping in the office, your presence can make a lasting difference. Training and support

You do not have to have any special experience but you do have to be willing to learn. We will provide training and support and you will learn all about the hospice philosophy and how to care for people at end of life.

Schedule and location

• You can set your visit schedule with your volunteer coordinator and the patient care team
• You can choose assignments near your home or your work
• APEX serves patients in their homes and in skilled nursing facilities in 16 counties around the Chicago land area
• Volunteers are encouraged to contribute near where they live or work
