About the role

Volunteers are at the heart of our team. By sharing your time and your unique gifts, you can bring companionship, relief, and joy to patients and their loved ones. Whether it’s sitting and talking with someone, playing music, giving a caregiver a much-needed break, making friendly calls or helping in the office, your presence can make a lasting difference.

Responsibilities

• Visit patients in their homes or in skilled nursing facilities as needed.
• Offer companionship, relief, and joy to patients and their loved ones.
• Play music, read books, engage in conversation, or simply be present.
• Provide a listening ear and emotional support.
• Assist caregivers with tasks such as errands or light housework.
• Make friendly calls to patients and their families.
• Help in the office with administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

No special experience is required. Training and support are provided and necessary for this very special role.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and a great listener.
• Loves people and wants to make a difference.
• Willingness to commit to a flexible schedule based on patient needs.
• Ability to travel to various locations within the Chicago land area.

Benefits

This is a BIG and worthy calling but surprisingly, it will not take too much of your time. You can set your visit schedule with your volunteer coordinator and the patient care team. You can choose assignments near your home or your work.
