About the role
Digital NEST is an innovative workforce development center focused on helping youth from working-class, farmworker communities develop the technical and professional skills needed to achieve their dreams. We are currently expanding to five communities across the Monterey Bay (MBR) and San Joaquin Valley (SJVR) regions in Northern California. The Career Services Specialist plays a crucial role in our programs, providing 1:1 career coaching, facilitating workshops, and supporting member success.
Responsibilities
- Career Coaching & Member Success (45%): Deliver personalized career coaching, assist with career navigation essentials, and lead workshops. Ensure holistic support through collaboration with other departments.
- Program Impact Collection & Member Engagement (35%): Log and organize member data, identify achievements, and develop impact narratives. Coordinate recruitment and outreach activities.
- Regional Programmatic Support (15%): Assist with program visibility projects, gather feedback, and support instructors. Collect and share impact data.
- Operational Requirements (5%): Adhere to organizational policies, communicate issues, and participate in evening and weekend programs.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience working with young adults, preferably in workforce development, education, youth advocacy, or community-based organizations.
- Proven ability to provide 1-on-1 guidance, edit resumes, prepare for interviews, and map career trajectories.
- Comfortable using database and project management tools like Airtable and Asana.
- Strong understanding of San Joaquin Valley community dynamics, opportunities, and challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and writing skills, with the ability to draw out stories from members and collaborate professionally with internal departments.
- Independent self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility, positive attitude, and strong desire to work in an industry focused on helping others.
- Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace tools and basic proficiency with Airtable, Asana, and Canva.
- Willingness to explore emerging AI systems.
- Passion for Digital NEST’s mission and commitment to its core values.
- Understanding and sensitivity to issues of culture, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual identity, class/SES, and immigration status.
- Valid CA driver’s license and ability to travel and work evenings or weekends occasionally.
