About the role
Student Career Mentor Looking for a flexible, meaningful student job that will help you build your résumé and professional skills? Career Services is seeking a positive, team-oriented student to serve as a career mentor, support marketing and outreach efforts, present on career-related topics, help with events, and assist with other tasks. Training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Career Services Front Desk: Assist students, employers, and visitors in person, by phone, and through email; Review student appointments, employer accounts, and job postings in Handshake; Help maintain a welcoming and professional office environment
- Career Mentoring: Meet individually with students to help strengthen résumés, cover letters, and interviewing skills; Assist students with Handshake and LinkedIn profiles
- Events & Presentations: Support Career Services events; Help give presentations to groups on career-related topics; Assist with marketing and outreach for events, presentations, and other services
- Projects: Identify and post jobs and internships; Help communicate with employers and maintain employer information; Complete other projects as assigned
Qualifications
Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, dependable, data-oriented, and have excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills, comfortable with Microsoft Office including Excel (or equivalent), and able to pick up new technical skills quickly
- Solid project management skills and good attention to detail
- Enroll as a full-time student each semester
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
- Submit a FAFSA each year to be considered for Federal Work-Study funding (this requirement does not apply to international students); students who applied for Federal Work-Study but were not awarded funding are still welcome to apply and may be considered for the position
- Preferred: GPA > 3.0 (higher GPAs strongly preferred)
- Preferred: Experience with Adobe Create Cloud products, HTML/CSS, SQL, or basic coding is a plus but not required
Pay
Hourly pay rate: $13.00
Schedule
Up to 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling; one mandatory one‑hour training meeting each week.
