Opening Work Shift: Rotating
Pay range: $17.00 - $22.10 per hour. Individual rates will be set within this range based on factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity.
About the Role
Completes a program that offers an introduction to potential careers for high school students who wish to gain practical experience in a professional work environment within a specific department/program area. Offers the opportunity to develop valuable workplace skills, explore potential career paths, and contribute to the overall success of the department/program. This is for non-credit bearing experiences and only for those actively in high school.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the nurse with providing patient care support activities that may include:
- Reading mail, magazines, and books to patients
- Playing cards or games with patients
- Interacting with patients and family
- Performing additional patient care related activities/functions with direction and in the presence of the patient’s assigned nurse
- Answering call lights and relaying messages from patient/family to the appropriate individual
- Answering telephones and taking messages
- Greeting patients, family, and visitors
- Stocking linen/supplies
- Running errands/delivering messages
- Taking or picking up equipment as needed
- Assisting in keeping the environment neat, clean, and clutter-free
Requirements
- Enrolled in high school or a high school graduate
- At least 16 years of age
- Employment certificate/work permit for candidates less than 18 years old
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
