About the role
Goodwill Kentucky is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, dynamic professional Career Development Facilitator to join our team. This role supports Goodwill’s mission to connect Kentucky job seekers with resources and services they need to find and maintain long-term employment and a career path. We serve Kentuckians who have disabilities or experience other challenges such as criminal backgrounds, language barriers, limited education, lack of transportation, and chronic poverty.
Responsibilities
- Counsel and interview participants to obtain information about employment history, educational background, and career goals to help them understand and overcome barriers.
- Assess needs for assistance, rehabilitation, financial aid, or additional vocational training, and refer participants to appropriate services.
- Make referrals to outside agencies as necessary.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by Goodwill.
- Teach classes and present self-help or information sessions on subjects related to education and career planning.
- Prepare students for later educational experiences by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and persevere with challenging tasks.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and organized records, including timely input of information in designated case management/reporting systems.
- Develop relationships with community partners who can serve as guest speakers on topics such as self-esteem, drug/alcohol prevention/abuse, social media, cultural diversity, financial empowerment, career pathways, and post-secondary education exploration.
- Plan and promote career and employment-related programs and events, such as career planning presentations, work experience programs, job fairs, and career workshops.
- Provide holistic services including one-on-one case management and in-class instruction to support a diverse population.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated analytical capability and understanding.
- Versatility, discretion, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse population while providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain participant confidentiality and follow the Code of Ethics.
- Ability to plan and develop workflow with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate programming requirements and participant needs.
- Reliable transportation, proof of insurance, a valid driver’s license in the state of residence, and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance provider.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, major in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Facilitation, or Training or similar field; or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Previous work experience with individuals with barriers to employment is a plus.
- Proficient verbal and written skills appropriate for a professional environment, with the ability to present information dynamically.
- Previous case management or related experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to use Salesforce and other computer software programs or applications.
Physical and Work Conditions
This job may have physical requirements considered sedentary work, involving:
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping.
- Good finger dexterity and feeling.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
Travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location is occasionally required.
