About the role
The Career Developer at Amity Foundation is responsible for facilitating employment opportunities for FCRP participants, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing support throughout the job search process.
Responsibilities
- Utilize extensive knowledge of pre-employment services, transitional work opportunities, and long-term career opportunities within the community to facilitate employment opportunities for FCRP participants.
- Ensure all employment opportunities are reviewed and approved by the Program Director.
- Confirm that temporary agency ("temp jobs") employment opportunities provide participants with a weekly schedule prior to approval.
- Aid participants in completing any necessary paperwork related to work or educational opportunities.
- Verify the employment and educational status of FCRP participants.
- Possess a basic understanding of the criminal record expungement process, its benefits, and provide participants with relevant information on how to expunge a criminal record.
- Provide guidance to participants on obtaining a Certificate of Rehabilitation.
- Maintain an up-to-date roster of participant job placements.
- Collaborate with area employers to create employment opportunities for participants.
- Inform prospective employers of incentives such as the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), fidelity bonding, and other benefits associated with hiring participants.
- Prepare and maintain a monthly roster of employers willing to hire participants and provide this roster to the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) upon request.
- Correspond with the Agent of Record (AOR) prior to placement to ensure there are no restrictions regarding job location or types.
- Mentor participants on how to appropriately disclose past convictions and/or parole status to potential employers.
- Offer information on occupational opportunities, job requirements, training, and rehabilitation resources.
- Absorb and assist participants in analyzing and evaluating their employment history, assets, and aptitudes.
- Refer participants to suitable employers, training programs, educational facilities, or other community agencies and organizations as necessary.
- Absorb and assist participants in determining their employment, training, and Career Technical Education (CTE) needs, and coordinate referrals with the Program Director and other staff.
- Prepare participants for the workforce.
- Absorb and assist participants in assembling the necessary documents to legally work in California and in creating their initial resume.
- Provide ongoing support to participants once they have been placed in employment.
- Support participants in addressing any issues that may arise post-employment.
- Absorb and assist participants who lose their job in securing new employment.
- Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies as needed.
- Maintain detailed progress notes in participant files.
- Ensure project compliance with Amity policies and procedures, as well as with relevant federal and state regulations and contract obligations.
- Attend and participate in Amity community-building functions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education and Experience: Four (4) degree in Social Sciences or related fields, OR a High school diploma or equivalent AND; two (2) years of experience as a job developer or similar position.
- Knowledge of the criminal record expungement process, procedures, and benefits.

- Physical Requirements: Faculty must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form. Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.
- Work Conditions: Generally, in an indoor office setting. Environmental Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud. The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold or hot.
- Travel: May travel locally as needed.
