Position Summary
Provide career counseling to and assist in the professional development of both the student and alumni communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in developing and maintaining campus programs reflecting the Christian values of the institution and meeting the needs of a diverse body of students.
- Counsel students and alumni on goal setting, self-assessment, career information, decision-making, job search process, and graduate and/or professional school planning.
- Teach career-related workshops and classes using theories and models of career development, counseling, and human development.
- Compile data and generate departmental reports.
- Critique students' résumés and coach interview techniques.
- Execute mock interviews with students.
- Participate in planning and executing events for internship and job opportunities, such as internships, career fairs, and employer presentations.
- Develop and implement new programming to enhance career readiness.
- Maintain relationships with employers.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide new and ongoing opportunities for students.
- Manage the Career Center Management System (Handshake).
- Provide Social Media Content.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete work assignments.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Counseling, Psychology, Human Development, Education, or related field.
- Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
