Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with administrators, individuals, and teacher-based teams
  • Work with teams to review and interpret assessment data, set goals, and plan for continuous improvement of achievement
  • Facilitate and participate in professional development
  • Develop, organize, communicate, and implement meaningful internship and community service opportunities to assist all high school students with the earning Community Service Seal and the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal
  • Work with the business, community, and non-profit organizations in developing community and career-based activities for high school students
  • Collect, analyze, review, and disseminate statistical information utilizing a variety of software and instructional management programs
  • Coordinate the completion of Career Plans for students as aligned to the Portrait of a Graduate, and district career advising plan
  • Utilize digital platforms to help students document workforce opportunities
  • Organize and support all career center recruitment activities in coordination
  • Pursue, develop, collaborate, and submit grant proposals and administer awarded grants
  • Attend all meetings scheduled by the Career-Technical Education Department and district and school-based graduation teams
  • Ability to work beyond the normal school day and on weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio teaching certification/licensure
  • Five years of successful teaching experience in Columbus City Schools
  • Valid drivers license and willing to become van certified to transport students when needed

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collegial, cooperative relations with students, parents, teachers, counselors, building and central office administrators and other personnel, as well as community, business and other partners
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent technological skills
  • Availability to facilitate, present, and/or attend school, district, and community events
  • Strong evidence of organizational, time management, collaborative, and self-directional skills
  • Proven indication of being a highly flexible and adaptable staff member; adept at multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced environment while coordinating numerous time-sensitive projects
  • Understanding of the current graduation requirements of the State of Ohio

Physical/Mental Demands And Work Environment

  • Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
  • Environment: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions
