About the Role
This twelve-month, grant-funded position supports middle and high school students by providing information about career opportunities in Arkansas, including the education and skills required for success in various fields. The Career Coach will encourage students to pursue and finance postsecondary education.
Responsibilities
- Provide early outreach to low-income students and their parents about the importance of postsecondary education, including preparation, application, and financing.
- Administer interest inventories and skills assessments to assist students in making informed career decisions.
- Facilitate the development of individual career plans and portfolios.
- Assist students with enrolling in education or training programs.
- Provide information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements.
- Organize job shadowing, mentoring, internships, business/industry visits, and other career awareness activities.
- Connect low-income students to support services easing the transition to postsecondary education.
- Link educationally disadvantaged youth and adults to “bridge programs” teaching basic academic skills in the context of career advancement.
- Connect students to academic enrichment activities such as study groups, tutoring, and workshops on study skills.
- Link high school students to early college programs, Advanced Placement classes, and academic/career and technical education (CTE) and concurrent-credit enrollment.
- Provide a continuum of career guidance to ease transitions from middle school to high school to postsecondary education or training and ultimately to the workplace.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Must be CRDF certified or commit to obtaining the CDF credential within one year of hire.

Pay
Minimum salary: $35,300.
