About the role

The Career Coach role at Thunderbird School of Global Management provides career advisement and professional counseling to domestic and international graduate students and alumni through all steps of the career development process; administers and interprets career assessments, teaches internship/job research, guides career decision-making, and coaches on job search preparation and strategy. Design, prepare, and deliver presentations on career development and job search topics. Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners and coordinate special projects as assigned. Reports to Director, Career Management Center, Student Success.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to assess students’ needs, establish career goals, and develop individualized action plans.
  • Plan, develop, and implement career exploration programs and events, including career fairs, employer visits, industry tours, workshops, and educational opportunity programs.
  • Coach students in resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies using appropriate resources and tools.
  • Design, develop and facilitate e-learning and in-person workshops and presentations on career development, job search strategies, and professional readiness.
  • Grade and provide guidance on course assignments, including resume feedback, job search plans and networking strategies.
  • Advise students on career exploration, decision-making, internships, job searches, and the skills and qualifications needed for career success.
  • Administer and interpret career assessments to help students identify interests, strengths, values, and career pathways.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of career planning theory and process, practice and techniques, including the administration and interpretation of career inventories and other assessment tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, career management systems (e.g., 12Twenty), and other standard office software.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, coaching, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with cultural populations and to identify and respect individual differences, motivations, and behaviors.
  • Commitment to providing excellent student support.

Skills

  • Ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Pay

$51,500 - $59,000 to commensurate with education and experience

Schedule

Thunderbird Career Management Center serves students and alumni in the office and at events that typically take place Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with additional evenings and weekends required. Staff have varied schedules during these time frames to support students and alumni.
