About the role

This role is not about teaching. It is about motivation. The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their target is to insist it is not yet complete.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 student groups on subjects including public speaking, focus, feedback, and other transferable competencies, modifying the standard playbook and creating new sessions when needed
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions designed to drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (campus currency, performance leaderboards), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome reluctance
  • Delivering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, then coaching students who fall short until they achieve passing performance
  • Adjusting your approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and kinesthetic engagement to eighth graders needing candid dialogue and personal accountability
  • Serving as the adult who maintains high expectations and the adult students trust; warmth creates the foundation for challenge, and challenge communicates your confidence in their potential

Requirements

  • Available to work full-time on-site at an Alpha campus in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT – relocation assistance provided
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 students (including classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp leadership, or youth program management)
  • A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging objective: the objective itself, your actions, and the result
  • Comfort allowing AI to manage instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
  • Regular use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto location)

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, debate programs, camp leadership, theater, or after-school initiatives where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward defined outcomes
  • Demonstrated personal achievement (academic, athletic, or professional) indicating that holding others to rigorous standards reflects consistent practice, not adopted rhetoric
  • Narrative ability and presence sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without volume escalation
  • Proven success converting disengaged or resistant students into willing, active contributors
