About the role
If you aspire to make a difference in the lives of adults and/or youth, this is the position for you! As the Career Advisor, you will provide adult and/or youth case management activities related to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) program in a variety of fast-paced, high-volume, performance-based environments throughout Maricopa County. This position utilizes assessments, career coaching, job search assistance, resource referrals, and services to help customers overcome barriers to employment, education, and training.
Responsibilities
- Provide adult and/or youth case management activities related to the WIOA program
- Utilize assessments, career coaching, job search assistance, resource referrals, and services to help customers overcome barriers to employment, education, and training
- Meet with customers one-on-one or in a group setting to review applications and determine if the customer meets WIOA eligibility requirements
- Aid in resume development and job search activities
- Assess participants' barriers to employment and arrange available area resources and supportive services as needed, including transportation, education, and emergency assistance
- Advise participants regarding secondary education, post-secondary training, and permanent employment opportunities
- Conduct and interpret academic and work readiness evaluations and assessments
- Provide intensive, sustained one-on-one support and guidance to a case load of up to 120 during the period of program participation
- Conduct program orientations, informational seminars, and one-on-one sessions with customers
- Create, update, and maintain accurate participant case notes and files
- Track referrals to program partners and community-based service providers
- Assist with job fairs, resource fairs, and other program events
- Conduct outreach across various areas of Maricopa County to create awareness of the program services
Requirements
- One year of experience in employment, training programs, case management, career development activities, reentry services, or equivalent social service programs
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
- Must complete background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to successfully secure and maintain the Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
