Care Technician-ER PRN

Job Summary

Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is a non-profit healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. The PRN Care Technician position assists professional nursing staff and Emergency Physicians by performing direct and indirect patient care as delegated.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect care to patients.
• Performs secretarial duties: answering phones, placing calls, order entry, logging patient information, and obtaining old records.
• Aids in cleaning patient treatment areas.
• Restocks and orders supplies for patient treatment areas, kitchenettes, nursing station, and supply carts.
• Cleans instruments and utensils and delivers to sterile processing department.
• Observes and reports changes in patient's physical and emotional condition.
• Transports patients to appropriate areas.
• Keeps patient treatment areas, kitchenette, storage areas, and nursing station in order.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Adept at communicating from neonate through geriatric years of age.
