Care Partner PRN - Elective Surgery - PRN Days 06:45 - 19:15

About the Role

Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse in the 10S Elective Surgery Unit.

Schedule

• PRN Day Shift: 6:45 am - 7:15 pm
• PRN staff must work a minimum of four 12-hour shifts every six weeks
• Full-time orientation period (two/three 12-hour shifts per week) for the first 4 weeks of employment
• All employees must attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment

Requirements

What You Need to Qualify:

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
• One of the following:
  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
  • Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Assist with day-to-day delivery of patient care
• Facilitate efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards
• Serve as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs
• Support unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards

• Environment of Care: Fundamental awareness of set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies, and equipment
• Care Partner Patient Documentation: Fundamental awareness of clinical applications for patient documentation
• Clinical Competencies: Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing as directed by unit standards
