About the Role

Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role is part of the 10S Elective Surgery Unit.

Schedule

• PRN Night Shift: 6:45 pm - 7:15 am
• PRN staff are required to work a minimum of four 12-hour shifts every six weeks
• Full-time orientation period (two/three 12-hour shifts per week) for the first 4 weeks of employment
• All employees must attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) AND one of the following:

• Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical)
• Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required)
• Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse
• Assists with day-to-day delivery of patient care
• Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards
• Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs
• Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards

• Environment of Care (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies, and equipment
• Care Partner Patient Documentation (Fundamental Awareness): Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation
• Clinical Competencies (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including but not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, medication administration, and point-of-care testing as directed by unit standards
