About the role

The Counseling Services Team, also known as Roo Wellness, provides a wide range of psychological, crisis, and risk consultation services, substance abuse prevention, and outreach initiatives to the UMKC campus community. The office is a nationally accredited training program through the American Psychological Association, offering training for doctoral interns in counseling and clinical psychology.

Responsibilities

• Provide a range of mental health services including individual and group therapy, and on-call crisis intervention.
• Identify and coordinate all available and relevant University and community resources during times of crisis.
• Conduct initial diagnostic clinical interviews and prescribe further diagnostic procedures or treatment programs.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of all clinical work and any other necessary documentation.
• Network and consult with counseling staff therapists, psychiatric providers, medical providers, campus partners, local hospitals, and community practitioners and agencies.
• Facilitate psychiatric hospitalizations and coordinate post-hospitalization follow-up care.
• Provide outreach and consultation to the campus community around mental health services and relevant mental health topics.
• Participate in departmental staff meetings, clinical case conferences, and other staff functions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the state of Missouri.
• Active full licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor and ability to obtain licensure in the State of Missouri within six months of being hired is preferred.
• Recent graduates who have passed their profession’s licensure exam and are actively accruing supervised clinical hours may be considered.
• Two years of relevant experience related to crisis case management.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $73,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
