About the Role

We seek talented and experienced candidates to perform advanced/complex professional accounting work that includes general ledger activities, the preparation of financial reports, financial transaction recording and analysis as well as monitoring the budgetary expenditures for a variety of governmental funds.

Responsibilities

  • Record, classify, analyze, and monitor financial data in accordance with GAAP, GASB accounting standards, and fund accounting practices.
  • Maintain the general and subsidiary ledger chart of accounts.
  • Perform monthly and year end closing duties, including accruals and deferrals.
  • Draft, with others, the City’s CAFR, State Controller’s Report, and other financial statements and reports.
  • Perform accounting, reporting and budget development duties related to grants, programs and funds.
  • Serve as a resource and assist in audits.
  • Provide financial administration support for Redevelopment Agency and Affordable Housing activities.
  • Perform spreadsheet mathematical and statistical computations producing charts, graphs, information, and reports.
  • Monitor, analyze and reconcile job and subsidiary ledgers, journals, accounts, and the City’s bank reconciliation.
  • Supervise other accounting and clerical functions.
  • Provide effective oral and written communications and maintain positive working relationships with City staff and the public.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required to perform essential job functions:

Skills

Classify, analyze, and monitor financial data in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles. Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis. Oversee and participate in year-end audit support work and year-round compliance with auditing and accounting standards. Prepare schedules, statements, and disclosure for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets utilizing Excel. Administer grant funded programs or capital projects. Supervise professional and/or clerical staff.

    • e. Federal, state, and local grants financial administration
  • Describe your experience in accounting administration, and financial and compliance reporting of: Redevelopment Agencies, tax increment financing and affordable housing programs.
