Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor client behaviors during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency.
• Develop treatment plans to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or criminal thinking.
• Make referral appointments for mental health or medical needs.
• Work with the Job Developer to build client employability or initiate SSI processes based on client needs.
• Document client behavior in group participation and counseling.
• Provide crisis management and counseling services.
• Run group therapies and educational sessions for clients and family/significant others.
• Coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
• Perform essential functions including:
  • Provide assessment and participate in treatment planning with clients.
  • Review client charts for completion of paperwork and conduct weekly audits.
  • Facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate necessary actions.
  • Record noteworthy events involving client activities in daily records.
  • Respond to client complaints efficiently and timely.
  • Check for completion of client orientation by support staff.
  • Contact family and set up communication schedules if desired by the client.
  • Meet with clients individually at least twice a week.
  • Complete notes for every group and interaction.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency.
• Minimum one year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling.
• Familiarity with HIPAA/client confidentiality and personal rights.
• Valid license and/or certification in drug and alcohol counseling through an approved Department of Health Care licensing board.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurable under Sierra Health and Wellness Centers' automobile insurance policy.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Two to five years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Pay

Hourly: $25.00 - $35.00
