Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor client behaviors during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency.
- Develop treatment plans to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or criminal thinking.
- Make referral appointments for mental health or medical needs.
- Work with the Job Developer to build client employability or initiate SSI processes based on client needs.
- Document client behavior in group participation and counseling.
- Provide crisis management and counseling services.
- Run group therapies and educational sessions for clients and family/significant others.
- Coordinate treatment and discharge planning.
- Perform essential functions including:
- Provide assessment and participate in treatment planning with clients.
- Review client charts for completion of paperwork and conduct weekly audits.
- Facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate necessary actions.
- Record noteworthy events involving client activities in daily records.
- Respond to client complaints efficiently and timely.
- Check for completion of client orientation by support staff.
- Contact family and set up communication schedules if desired by the client.
- Meet with clients individually at least twice a week.
- Complete notes for every group and interaction.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency.
- Minimum one year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling.
- Familiarity with HIPAA/client confidentiality and personal rights.
- Valid license and/or certification in drug and alcohol counseling through an approved Department of Health Care licensing board.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable under Sierra Health and Wellness Centers' automobile insurance policy.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Two to five years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Pay
Hourly: $25.00 - $35.00
