Brief Description
A typical day might include the following:
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, and offer management.
- Ensure all interview notes are complete and uploaded into applicant profile.
- Manage applicant tracking and ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
- Care for background checks, reference verifications, and pre-employment requirements.
- Own and manage the full onboarding process for all new hires, serving as their primary HR point of contact from offer acceptance through the first 90 days.
- Ensure all required onboarding documentation is completed accurately and on time, including I-9 verification, tax forms, direct deposit, policy acknowledgments, and any state or role-specific compliance requirements.
- Coordinate Day 1 logistics and orientation, system access, ID/badge issuance, and introductions to key team members.
- Conduct onboarding check-ins with new hires throughout their ramp period to surface concerns early and ensure a smooth transition into the role.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the onboarding experience to reflect company growth, new tools, and evolving best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, files, and HR databases in compliance with company policy and applicable law.
- Process new hire paperwork, onboarding documentation, and employee changes (promotions, transfers, terminations).
- Assist with payroll data entry and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and company programs.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Oversee and maintain the training tracking system, ensuring all employees complete required and role-specific training on schedule.
- Care for new hire orientation and onboarding training programs.
- Partner with department leaders to identify training needs and support the development of training materials and schedules.
- Generate training completion reports and escalate gaps or non-compliance to the appropriate manager.
- Support the rollout and tracking of annual compliance training (e.g., harassment prevention, safety, company policy).
- Aid in the coordination of external training programs and vendor relationships as needed.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations questions and escalate complex matters to the Director of HR.
- Support performance management processes, including tracking review cycles and documentation.
- Aid in HR projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts as directed.
- Prepare HR reports, metrics, and summaries for leadership as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of progressive HR experience, with exposure to recruiting, onboarding, administration, and training.
- (Multi-location or retail experience preferred).
- Solid understanding of HR practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end onboarding processes and create a welcoming new hire experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with training management systems a plus.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
