Cardiovascular Technologist II- Cath Lab

About the role

Under limited supervision, the Cardiovascular Technologist I assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure arena specializing in the care of patients undergoing basic diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures. This role functions as a resource to staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and right and left heart catheterization with no assistance
• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance
• Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment
• Records cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and left and right heart catheterization hemodynamics with accuracy
• Monitors procedure, and documents inventory used and order of events appropriately in MacLab™ event log; requires only occasional minimal assistance
• Maintains ECG set up and rhythm monitoring
• Maintains basic hemodynamic set up and waveform monitoring
• Assists in preparation of room with fellow staff members for safe, effective care of patient
• Performs required checks on all safety equipment
• Ensures adequate supplies present to perform procedures
• Transports patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent, and 1 year of experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist I or similar expertise
• Graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program; or equivalent education and/or experience and RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required; or Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience
• Copy of academic degree or transcript required

Licenses & certifications

• Must be certified as a AART, RCIS OR RCES with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
• Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within three (3) months of hire and thereafter maintained

Preferred experience

• Telemetry and Arterial and Venous Sheath Removal experience preferred

• Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force (Frequent)
• Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous)
• Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance (Continuous)
• Ability to match or discriminate between colors and determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception (Continuous)
• Good peripheral vision capabilities (Continuous)
• Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (Continuous)
• Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Continuous)
