Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA

Job Summary

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This full-time, hospital-employed role supports inpatient services within a high-acuity surgical setting.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for Cardiothoracic ICU and Floor patients
• First assist in CT surgery, Perform EVH using Hemopro system
• Perform bedside procedures including thoracentesis, central/arterial line placement, chest tube insertion/removal, etc.
• 24/7 in house coverage of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery utilizing 24 hour shifts
• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams
• Manage inpatient care, including daily rounds, care coordination, and discharge planning
• Participate in consults, emergent assessments, and postoperative follow-up
• Provide patient and family education throughout the care continuum
• Collaborate closely with attending surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivist, and nursing staff

Education/Experience Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications:
• Licensed or eligible to practice in the state of New York
• 3-5+ years of Cardiac experience
• BLS certification required
• Experience required in Endoscopic Vein and Artery Harvesting for the full scope opportunity
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• REQUIRED:
• Current NYS Nurse Practitioner licenses OR Current NYS license as a Physician Assistant with prescription privileges
• Current BCLS, ACLS certifications
• PREFERRED:
• Active ANCC certification in relevant specialty
