Job Summary

HCA Florida Largo Hospital is seeking a full-time, experienced physician assistant (PA-C) or nurse practitioner (APRN) to join their cardiothoracic surgery and transplant/MCS team at Florida Advanced Cardiothoracic Surgery in Largo, FL.

About the role

The APP will be responsible for first assisting in all CVOR cases (including CABG, valve repair and replacements, aortic surgery, LVAD, heart transplantation, impella, ECMO, thoracic procedures, EVH/ERAH, chest closure), inpatient rounding in the ICU and floors, consult clinic duties, patient education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • First assisting in all CVOR cases (including CABG, valve repair and replacements, aortic surgery, LVAD, heart transplantation, impella, ECMO, thoracic procedures, EVH/ERAH, chest closure)
  • Inpatient rounding in the ICU and floors
  • Consult clinic duties
  • Patient education
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary team

Requirements

  • Must be board certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an active Florida license prior to start
  • Surgical first assist experience is required
  • Endoscopic Vein Harvest (EVH) experience is required
  • Experience in advanced heart failure (LVAD, impella, ECMO, heart transplant) is a plus
  • Call includes rotating weekday and one weekend per month

Qualifications

  • Must have a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a Master's degree in Nursing with a concentration in Family Practice or Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP)
  • Must have completed an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Must have passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) or the National Certification Exam for Nurse Practitioners (NCLEX-PN)
  • Must have current certification from the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital-based setting
