About the Role

Leading Heart Program in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is seeking a skilled Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Provider (CT-APP) with EVH experience to join a team of 3 employed cardiothoracic surgeons and 3 APPs at Grand Strand Medical Center. This position offers a balanced blend of operative first assisting, ICU management, and perioperative patient care within a high-volume cardiac and thoracic program.

Responsibilities

  • First assist in adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valves, aortic surgery) and thoracic procedures, including Robotics and TEVAR
  • Perform endoscopic saphenous vein harvest (EVH) with Saphena XL system (endoscopic radial artery harvest a plus)
  • Participate in urgent and emergent operative cases
  • Daily management of postoperative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in the ICU, including:
    • Hemodynamic assessment and management
    • Coordination of multidisciplinary teams
    • Discharge planning and transition of care
  • Participate in night and weekend OR call with expected coverage 1:3 (no overnight shifts required)
  • Procedural responsibilities, including:
    • Chest tube placement and management
    • Central venous catheter placement
    • Arterial line placement
    • Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program
  • South Carolina license or ability to obtain prior to starting
  • 2 or more years’ experience in first assist for adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Robotics and TEVAR
  • Endoscopic radial artery harvest experience (training available for strong candidates)
  • Experience with advanced perioperative cardiothoracic procedures
