Cardiology / Critical Care Cardiologist

About the role

The Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) seeks a Cardiologist with critical care experience and/or training, or an Intensivist with a strong cardiac interest and experience to join a team of experienced Cardiac ICU staff at Hartford Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease including pre- and postoperative care, heart transplant, and/or Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), and acute mechanical circulatory support (ECMO cannulation, Impella, and intra-aortic balloon pumps) and cardiogenic shock.
• Opportunities for involvement in the hospital's ECMO program.
• Leadership opportunities within the ECMO program with appropriate level of experience.
• Cannulation experience preferred but not required.
• Education opportunities with APPs, cardiology fellows, critical care fellows, residents, and interns.
• Successful candidates will be able to place chest tubes, perform bronchoscopy, and emergent intubations.

Requirements

• BC/BE in Cardiology and/or Critical Care.

Qualifications

• Experience with chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and emergent intubations.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex cases.
