Responsibilities
- Instructs, prepares, and pre-assesses patients for electrocardiogram (EKG) tests, stress testing and/or cardiovascular monitoring devices.
- Operates EKG machines and attach electrodes to patients' bodies to obtain accurate heart readings.
- Maintains accurate and detailed patient records related to tests and results using a Cardiac Information Management System (MUSE).
- Maintains all equipment associated with stress testing and cardiovascular monitoring devices, including Holter Monitor, institutes trouble shooting measures, recognizes equipment malfunctions and communicates with service engineers.
- Provides patient care and support, addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding the during cardiac diagnostic procedures.
- Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members to discuss and verify test results.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an approved EKG class (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- If a High School diploma or GED: Six (6) months of experience in a medical environment.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider Certification.
